Kings Theatre, a cultural and economic cornerstone of the Flatbush community, will serve as an official polling site during the upcoming general election. In partnership with the New York Board of Elections, the large-scale entertainment venue will be open during the early voting period, October 24, 2020 – November 1, 2020, and on Election Day, Tuesday, November 3, 2020. Registered voters in New York are also eligible to become paid poll workers to help administer the in-person voting process.

“As part of a diverse community, we encourage civic participation on a local, state, and national level in this year’s upcoming election,” said Stefanie Tomlin, General Manager at Kings Theatre. “We are proud to provide an accessible, convenient, safe, and secure voting experience to all those taking part in the democratic process. We also welcome any registered voter to become a poll worker and help ensure a safe and fair election as New Yorkers exercise their constitutional right to vote.”

According to the Board of Elections, New York is currently facing a critical shortage of poll workers. Historically, 55% of poll workers in the state are over the age 60 and are vulnerable to complications if they contract COVID-19. This has caused a significant need for willing and able poll workers during Early Voting and on Election Day. Poll workers help prepare the polling site and are paid for training and each election day they work.
