Founding fathers of gothic rock, Bauhaus created a minimalistic and gloomy style of post-punk rock driven by jagged guitar chords and distant synthesizers. Combining a number of styles including punk, glam rock, funk, and dub, their introspective sound appealed to audiences left disillusioned by the New Wave genre that came out of punk's collapse.

Peter Murphy, Daniel Ash, Kevin Haskins, and David J formed Bauhaus in Northampton, England in late 1978 and released their debut single "Bela Lugosi’s Dead" in August 1979. Their legacy and musical influence has spanned multiple generations and resulted in reunions and continued touring.
